“Parents are vital partners in education. They influence their children’s attitudes about learning, and support learning at home. They are a vital link between home and school. And when they become involved in the life of the school, they make our schools better places to learn, grow and thrive.”

Ontario Ministry of Education, (2017)

“When you are the parent of a child with ADHD, the standard parenting “rules” go out the window.

ADDitude Magazine

I provide education and support to parents to understand ADHD, and how it impacts their child and their family. I help families develop tools and resources to manage ADHD symptoms and effectively meet their kids’ needs through every developmental phase, emphasizing relationship-building, modeling the behavior we want to see, planning, organizing and staying regulated in challenging situations.

The sessions will provide parents with the information, support, and confidence they need to understand how ADHD impacts a child’s brain, shift perspectives, and uncover the gifts of ADHD. Parents also learn strategies that will work best with their child’s unique brain wiring, including managing difficult behaviors, how to support executive dysfunctions (especially around emotional regulation, rejection sensitive dysphoria, task initiation) which will increase family harmony.

If you and your child both have ADHD, or another caregiver or child in your family has ADHD, our work can also emphasize support for your life as an individual with ADHD or as a parent of a child with ADHD, or both.

Taking into account your family’s particular circumstances, we work together to elicit client-generated solutions for both your and your child’s daily frustrations that often accompany an ADHD diagnosis (procrastination, impulsivity and emotional regulation). Through individual or couples coaching, we will help set clear goals for your ADHD parenting journey and guide you along the way, so you build confidence and skills to support your child.

To help parents collaboratively and positively advocate for their kids at school, while also navigating different doctors and specialists, I consult with Dr. Ton van der Velden. Together we can offer advice about understanding the process of ADHD diagnosis, preparing for doctor’s meetings, as well as planning for school meetings with a goal of student success.

Parents can gain an understanding of learning disabilities, legal rights, IEP/ILP development, and how they affect academic performance. Parents will gain a deeper understanding of how to work with international or host country schools and doctors, and how to access help for struggling students. Single consultations and packages providing more intensive support are available as needed.

Book a free discovery call to see how I might support you, and to consider mutual compatibility. After the free consultation, these are the fees I charge.   If you are ready to book a package, do so here.
